Thinking of trying Honey Hole

I planted my first plots in Antler King Honey Hole since Steve Bartylla talks so highly of it. I planted four of my ten plots in it this year 2020. It was used to some extent before it got really cold but once it got down to below 32 degrees the deer started hammering it. And in December it pulled so many doe and big bucks in. On Christmas Eve I shot the biggest buck of my life with a muzzle loader. Just 50 yards in front of my stand. His name was “The Beast” and I had to wait five minutes for him to finally lift his head from eating the Honey Hole turnips and turn broad side. I’m sold!!!
The Beast has about 25 points, he is a non typical with drop tines and im told he may be in contention for the Nebraska Muzzle loader record. Id share photos if I could…

Congratulations Daron!! I’m so glad this worked out for you, your statement about Honey Hole is dead on with what it was designed to do.

Was the first time using this product last year. Unfortunately, in my neck of the woods we experienced a drought. The plants that did survive grew enough to produce enough that the deer still ate the plants to the ground. Walking through the plot late season with inches of snow on top the deer are still trying to dig up the turnips. I would defiantly recommend this product to anyone wanting to create an awesome kill plot!

I like what I am hearing. I want to plant this on my farms in illinois. Do I need to turn the ground over when I plant this seed?
David –
This sounds very interesting. Can this be mixed in with rye grass or does it do better as a stand alone? I have small plots and worry they will be gone before December.

David this blend will offer tons of forage, if I was to mix anything with it, I would mix our slam dunk with it.
